Leon Kendall, 58, of 305 Days Avenue, Buchanan, Mich., entered into rest at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, in his home.

Leon was an Air Force Vietnam veteran, and had been retired from the Buchanan Police Department since 1992.

Leon was born on March 18, 1941, in Mishawaka, Ind., and had lived in this area for the last 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald D. and Bernice Zilvitis Kendall.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia McCray Kendall, who he married on Sept. 20, 1969, in Niles, Mich.; two daughters, Gail Kendall of Portage, Mich., and Andrea (Ronald) Alan of Dearborn, Mich.; a granddaughter, Caileigh Alan; and by a sister, Iris Sessions of Granger, Ind.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Hoven Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Cemetery, Mishawaka, Ind.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Hoven Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Elementary School Library, 217 S. Lincoln, Niles, MI 49120; or to the Buchanan Public Library, 117 W. Front, Buchanan, MI 49107.
