Sherry K Longbreak (Allen) - Class Of 1959

Sherry K Longbreak (Allen)

Adams 1959 Sharon (Longbreak) Allen

Aug. 30, 1941 - April 26, 2016

CHANDLER, AZ - Sharon (Longbreak) Allen of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her home on April 26, 2016, after a brief illness. With her niece at her side and listening to Elvis, she journeyed home.

Sharon (called “Sherry” by many) was born in South Bend, Indiana, to parents Theodore (Ted) Longbreak and Eileen (Klinefelter) Wiltfong. She lived in South Bend her entire childhood and graduated from John Adams High School. In the summer of 1966 her life was tragically altered when she was involved in a car crash that left her a paraplegic at the young age of 24. On advice from doctors and the recommendation of a great rehab center in Phoenix, she packed and moved to Arizona and called it home. She never complained about her situation and displayed strength and courage throughout her life.

In 1973 she met the love of her life, Leo (Bud) Allen. They were married January 8, 1974, in Las Vegas, and enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his death in 2009. Also preceding her in death were her beloved nephew, Matthew (Scott) Jackson, and sister, Nancy (Longbreak) Harness.

She is survived by one niece, Lisa (Jackson) Lindorf, and one nephew, David Harness, along with nine great-nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, trips to the casino to play the slots, and playing rummy with her family. Sharon loved Notre Dame football and she also cheered for the Chicago Cubs. Perhaps this will be the year for the Cubs to win the World Series or for Notre Dame to win the championship. Either way Sherry will be cheering and has a front row seat.
