Shirley Ann Rossner (Severeid) - Class Of 1959 VIEW PROFILE

Shirley Ann Rossner (Severeid)

Shirley Ann Rossner (Severeid)

August 27, 1941 ~ December 06, 2025

Dearly missing her beloved Bob for the past 5 years, the Angels swept down to reunite them on Saturday December 6.

Shirley was born in South Bend to Edgar and Delma (Powell) Rossner; both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a brother Robert (Bob). A proud graduate of John Adams High School, Shirley was very active on reunion committees for 60 years.

It was while a student at Adams that she was introduced to Robert (Bob) Severeid. What followed was a 60 year love affair. They supported each other’s interests and careers while raising three children. Shirley’s career centered on serving others, first in Apartment & Property Management (where she was the 1st recipient of the State of Indiana’s Certified Apartment Management Award, among other recognitions). In the late 90’s, She and Bob joined together to help individuals purchase homes; many of whom needed support due to low credit scores.

Shirley’s interests included going out for breakfast, the occasional gin & tonic and trips to Williamsburg, Virginia. Over a span of 15 years, she rarely missed being at the family tailgate in the shadow of Notre Dame Stadium. However, none of these came close to her love of her family. She was always available for babysitting and/or being there whenever needed. She (with Bob) was a constant presence at yard parties, dance competitions, athletic events and school functions. She understood her role as family matriarch and practiced servant leadership long before it was a corporate buzzword.

Survivors include her brother Chuck Rossner of Mishawaka; children Bob Severeid of South Bend, Debi (John) Grecco of Zionsville and Lori Willard of Granger; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 to noon followed by a Prayer Service at noon on Monday December 15 at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615.

Donations can be made in Shirley’s name to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, Mishawaka, IN.
