After my freshman year, I spent a couple of years in Chicago and worked at various secretarial positions, discovering that I'd better get a degree because I wasn't very good at it. Came back to study art at IUSB. Then, it was off to Bloomington to finish my degree. Next, were my master's studies in art and music (as an artist/costume designer). Not passing Go nor collecting $200, I went straight back to Chicago where I spent many years in advertising and public relations copywriting and as creative director for J. Walter Thompson, BBD&O, etc. I volunteered in rape crisis intervention, eventually speaking in public and helping create similar crisis lines at colleges and universities. After a short marriage, I returned to So. Bend to care for aging parents. They passed away 60 days apart. By that time, I had become involved in the art community, giving guided tours, etc. Renewed friendships have kept me happily esconced here.

School Story

I well remember how some of the kids taunted Mr. Carroll in Latin class, and how the rest of us enjoyed it (naughty us). One Spri ng day, most of the class was bored and nearly asleep when we heard something scampering accross the floor. Someone let a small rodent loose. Mr. Carroll was so upset he jumped on his desk. We were quite amused and wide awake for the remainder of the class.
