Ronald Eugene Popp - Class Of 1961 VIEW PROFILE

Ronald Eugene Popp

Jack:
Here's information regarding Ron Popp that I received from his brother Jerry:

Ron did pass away on 5/4/72(was Kentucky Derby Day). He worked at the Coca Cola plant on Mishawaka Ave. prior to entering  the NAVY. He also worked at Robertson's Department Store. While in the NAVY one of his locations was Guantanamo Bay, Cuba when the missile crisis was going on. After the NAVY he worked at Bendix and Reese Mfg. in Elkhart.  He married Janet Butler. I think they married in 1967. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and was active in the church they attended with some of the youth groups.

Best,
Jim Martz

Wow, that was very young for a heart attack. I'm very sorry to hear of Ron's death, especially so very young.

I was not well acquainted with Ron Pop, but am very sorry to hear of his untimely passing.  Blessings to his wife and family.  After reading his brief obit, it may be more accurate to say he collapsed and was unable to be resuscitated, cause of death uncertain.  It could have been a heart attack, but it also could have been the sudden rupture of an aneurysm in his brain or a stroke.  I am sorry to learn of hs passing so belatedly.  Makes it harder for us to accept his premature passing and to express condolences to his family.  RIP, Ron.

I am also saddened to read of Ron Popp's untimely passing.  We were not close friends, but I do remember passing him in the hallowed halls of JAHS.  I'm always touched by the thoughts of what might have been, when someone passes at such a young age.  I'm certain it was a blow to his young wife and his family.  Another Eagle has flown into the clouds.  May God bless us one and all!!!
