Charlene J. (Shock) Pinkerton Aug. 10, 1943 - May 29, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Charlene Pinkerton, 71, formerly of South Bend passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2015 in San Bernardino, California where she had lived for the past 15 Years. Charlene was born August 10, 1943 to parents Charles and Emily (Wunsch) Shock) who preceded her in death. Charlene was a graduate of John Adams High School in 1961 and during those years she danced extensively in musicals produced and directed by James Lewis Casaday. Charlene attended Western Michigan University and had a lifelong love of dance. Charlene taught all styles of dance to hundreds of children throughout her lifetime. She was the owner of The River Park School of Dance in South Bend, and continued to teach dance in California. In June of 1981 Charlene married the love of her life, Ron Pinkerton. Ron and Charlene moved to California and began a successful business dealing in antiques and collectables. Charlene was a well-respected antique dealer and doll collector and authored two books on the subject of holiday collectables. She had an extensive collection of antique dolls. Together they visited 49 states promoting their business and visiting friends and family. Charlene loved her mountain home, her family and friends and her dogs. She made this world a better place with her joyful dancing, the music in her head and the beaming smiles that she gave to everyone she met. Charlene will be greatly miss by all who knew her. Charlene had several movie star clients in her business and knew Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee through her association with Tadashi Yamashita and Jim Ninios, both master black belts in Karate. During her time in California she was able to spend a day with Elizabeth Taylor and her lifelong hero, Roy Rogers and his wife Dale Evans. Her favorite celebrity customer was Diane Keaton. Charlene is survived by her husband Ron, formerly of Elkhart and South Bend, her much loved son, Jordan Shock of Van Nuys, California, stepson, Kevin Pinkerton and step daughter, Traci Pinkerton of Elkhart, Indiana. She is also survived by two brothers, Charles Shock Jr. and David (Wanda) Shock both from South Bend, a niece, Emily Shock and her children, Isabelle and Logan Ranney of Sarasota, FL. Charlene is also survived by her lifelong friend, Suzanne Blain of South Bend and numerous cousins located throughout the United States. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Charlene was a two time cancer survivor and memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society , any animal shelter in your area or to the James Lewis Casaday and Sidney Pollack Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
