Donald Earl Harman

VANDALIA, MI - Donald E. Harman, 73, of Vandalia, MI, & St. Petersburg, FL, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday (April 6, 2011) at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, FL. He was born August 9, 1937, in South Bend, to Earl & Leona (Spaulding) Harman.
On Feb. 3, 1963, in Elkhart, he married Jenny Lind Hartranft. She survives along with a daughter, Barbara (Jon) Rondot of Ft. Wayne, IN; a son, Richard (Tish) Harman of South Bend, IN; and six grandchildren, Abby, Tyler, Alex, Drew, Caroline and Conner. His parents preceded him in death.
Don was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a lifetime member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in South Bend. He was a member of the IBEW Local #153 in South Bend. He enjoyed sailing, riding his bicycle, and playing sand volleyball. Don was a union electrician and worked for the IBEW Local #153 for over 40 years, retiring in 1999.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday (May 13, 2011) and from 10-11 a.m. (May 14, 2011) in Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 14, 2011) in the funeral home. Pastor Valerie Shepherd of Coboconk, Ontario, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice or cancer society.
