Dianne Pearle (Hartter) Talboom, 87 years old, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025 surrounded by her family at her residence in South Bend.

Dianne, affectionately referred to as Sam, was born on April 2, 1938 in Nappanee, to the late Alvin Roy Hartter and Marie Margaret Wise. On January 1, 1960, Sam married the love of her life, LaVerne Boone Talboom, who survives. Along with her parents, Sam is preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Lee Harwood.

Along with her loving husband of 65 years, Dianne is survived by her children, Dennis J Talboom, Kenneth R. (Brenda) Talboom, I, and Thomas P Talboom; grandchildren, Kenneth R. (Amy) Talboom, II, Jennifer L. (Brandon) Talboom, Justin T. Talboom, Lindsey M. (Nick) Horner, and Holly E. (Joel) Sluyter; great-grandchildren, Brayln, Aiden, Kyler, Landyn, Mavryc, Brionna, Jayda, Joomer, Hazel, and Josie; nieces, Janet, Cindy, and Connie; as well as many other great-nieces, great-nephews, and other beloved extended family members.

Sam graduated from Adams High School in South Bend in 1956, where she was a cheerleader and first discovered her love of dancing. Soon after, she married LaVerne and began the family legacy she cherished deeply until her final moments. Sam loved the outdoors and spent much of her youth at her family’s lake house on Waubee Lake in Milford. She also found great joy in cooking, baking, sewing, and decorating for Christmas—a labor of love that often took days, if not weeks. Sam was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs and was truly gifted in sewing, able to make anything she set her mind to. Above all, she adored her family. Whether serving as a Den Mother for her sons, playing with her grandchildren, or simply enjoying a family card game, Sam treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She cared deeply for everyone around her and instilled her values in all whose lives she touched. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sam will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life Dinner will take place Saturday, January 3, 2025 from 12:00pm-4:00pm at the American Legion Post 284, 23571 Grant Rd. South Bend, IN 46619.
