She graduated from Adams High School, Michiana College of Commerce, and Indiana University with a degree in Elementary Education. Nancy also graduated from Bethel College with a Master's in Education. Nancy taught school for 37 years before retiring in May 2005. Nancy was a very kind, caring and generous person, who would help others in need. Nancy was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. Dogs were the love and center of Nancy's beautiful life. Nancy loved traveling, Broadway shows, reading, music, art and ceramics. She loved to shop at the mall, eating out, and being with family. Nancy loved to go out to movies, and travel with her wonderful and longtime friend, Beverly Beck. She also had longtime friendships with other faculty and staff in the many schools she taught at. She always wanted to bring out the best in her students and have them leave with more knowledge than what they came to her classroom with. She loved Lucille Ball, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Chevy Chase and Will Ferrell. Nancy loved many musicals and plays.

Nancy will be truly missed. She was a very fun and lively person who always made you laugh. The family would like to especially thank the Healthwin Specialized Facility for their expertise and compassionate care over the last four years. Nancy loved the daily visits from their canine guests. The family would also like to say thanks to Memorial Hospital and the kind and professional staff on the 7th cardiac floor and I.C.U units. We also want to give special praise to good friend Philip Rodgers for always taking the time to do extra deeds for Nancy.
