Kenneth Van “Sparky” Groth passed away on October 22, 2003 on the Barrier

Reef off the coast of Belize. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Niespondziany,

Kenneth Van "Sparky" Groth of County Murray Drive in Granger, Ind., passed away on Oct. 22 on the Barrier Reef off the coast of Belize.

Sparky was born Dec. 23, 1947 to Kenneth Frank and Donna (Vanaman) Groth in Winamac, Ind. Sparky was preceded in death by his parents. On June 6, 1970 in South Bend, Ind., he married Audrey Niespodziany.

Sparky leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Audrey; sons, Ryan (Kathy) Groth of South Bend and Brandon (Jenny) Groth of South Bend; a daughter, Shannon Groth of Mishawaka, Ind.; and a sister, Darla (David) Smith of Bloomington, Ind.

Sparky was a 1966 graduate of John Adams High School and was employed over 35 years with American Electric Power Company. Sparky and his wife had previously owned and operated Van Gogh's Floral in Elkhart. Sparky served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Galveston.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. in Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Ind. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior.

Sparky was an avid scuba diver as were his wife, children and many friends. He and Audrey renewed their wedding vows underwater in Barbados in 2000. They were on a cruise, diving in Belize when they Lord called him away from all of us who loved him.
