Terry D. Wilson, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Mulberry, Florida where he was residing.

Terry was born on January 7, 1944, in South Bend, to the late Robert and Eleanor (Ives) Wilson.  He grew up in South Bend and was a graduate of Adam High School's class of 1962.  After high school, he went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force as a Heavy Equipment Operator.  His desire to serve didn’t stop after the Air Force, he joined the St. Joseph County Police Department on August 18, 1969.  His dedication took him through assignments in the jail, on patrol, within the warrants division, and in the detective bureau.  In 1991, Terry was appointed Warden, a position he held until his retirement, on January 10, 1995, at the rank of Major.  He was a proud Air Force veteran, who devoted his life to service, both to our country and to the St. Joseph County Community.  He also worked security at Martin’s Supermarket for several years, before eventually moving to Mulberry, Florida to enjoy his retirement.

Terry is survived by his children; Robert D. Wilson II, and Michael Wilson (Tracy Albritton).  He was the proud grandpa to Tyler (Brittney) Wilson, Jenna Wilson, Morgan Wilson, Zoe (Jode) Livingston, and Brooks (Sarah) Wilson and was the great grandpa to five.  He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald (Rebecca Holcomb) Wilson and Roger (Kathy Zernick) Wilson. 

The family has followed Terry’s wishes and cremation has taken place with no services.

George H. Winkelmann (1961)

I'm sorry that Terry has passed.  I graduated the year before he did, but I certainly do remember passing him in the hallowed halls of John Adams.  I thank his family for Terry's service to our great country.  I pray you remember him well.  Laugh, cry, and celebrate his life.  Another Eagle has flown into the sky!  God bless you one and all!  G
