John Patrick Bowman

John P. Bowman, 69, passed away on the 5th of May 2015. John was born on January 5, 1946 in South Bend, Indiana. He attended John Adams High School in South Bend and attended Rose Polytechnic Institute before joining the United States Air Force in 1966, where he served as an intelligence analyst. He was in Vietnam from 1968- 1970 and continued in the service until 1973. In 1969, he received the Joint Services Commendation Medal. From 1976 to 1983 he worked as a crash rescue firefighter and an Emergency Medical Technician for the county of Volusia (FL). John began work in 1984, at Perdue Office Interiors. Starting as a warehouse worker and installer he worked his way up to network coordinator to Corporate Account project Coordinator. John is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Robert and William; and his sister Susan Regan of Daytona Beach. He is also survived by 5 nephews, Carl, David and Mark Carpenter and Elliott and Trevor Hassen; and one niece Janina Matias. The family will receive friends from 10 -11 A.M. on Saturday, May 9th at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd with services beginning at the at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 9th with Reverend Jay Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with Military honors. Donations can be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice. John has been honored by the Blood Alliance on numerous occasions as a multi-gallon blood donor. He loved his family and he loved to help others. Fittingly his favorite quote is "Life's most persistent and urgent question is what you are doing for others?" George H. Winkelmann (1961)

Another Eagle has flown into the clouds.  John and I were not friends, but I certainly recognize his face from seeing him wandering the hallowed halls of John Adams.  I'm sure he has been sorely missed by his family and friends over the years.  Blessings to all who knew and loved him.  It sounds like he lead a great life and was certainly one of the good guys.  God bless you one and all.  G
