Thomas L. Dutrieux, 59, of Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away on Friday night, Feb. 18, in Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 29, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., to Leo Dutrieux and Geraldine (Holloway) Patzer, who preceded him in death. He graduated from South Bend Adams High School in 1963. On Aug. 10, 1987, he married his loving wife Peggy in South Bend.

Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion. He was a talented carpenter and enjoyed entertaining his many friends and family at his backyard pool.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Peggy; and two stepdaughters, Shauna (Gary Giger) Baker of South Bend and Jeri Lynn Glassburn of Edwardsburg. He is also is survived by his former wife, Mary Lou Dutrieux; and their five children, Thomas Jr. (Mary Lou) of Mumford, Tenn., Laurie (Michael) Johnson of Granger, Julie Dutrieux of Indianapolis, Kevin (Nichole) of Summerville, S.C., and Brian (Erika) of Bloomfield, N.J. His dear sister, Mary Lou Mirocha of Thomasville, Ga.; and brother, Michael Dutrieux of Troy, Mich., also survive.

Thomas also cherished his 12 grandchildren, Hannah, Nathan, Breanne, Austin, Tayler and Lukas Dutrieux, Nicholas and Megan Johnson, Tevin Stoner, Malik Baker and Kaylee and Mahkiyah Moffitt.

A Memorial Mass for Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg on Tuesday, Feb. 22. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas L. Dutrieux Memorial Fund at Teachers Credit Union.

The McGann Funeral Home of South Bend has been entrusted with the arrangements.
