SOUTH BEND - Judy J. Mitchell, 64, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009, in Memorial Hospital.

Judy was born on July 26, 1944, to Harry L. Holloway and Ruth (Willborn) Maxwell. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; and by a son, Brian Schnakenberg.

On February 14, 1997, she married Lawrence A. Mitchell, who survives along with five sons, Adam Schnakenberg of IL, Alan Mitchell of Elkhart, Kurt (Gayle) Adams of Valparaiso, IN, Laurel Mitchell of Mishawaka and Steve (Donna) Bowman of South Bend; four grandchildren, Samantha, Luke, and Vincent Mitchell, and Amanda Adams; special grandchildren, Jennifer Bowman, Cassandra Wilds, Logan Wilds and Harley Bowman.

Judy was a John Adams graduate and she also graduated from Michiana College of Commerce. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Women of the Moose 1057 for many years, and was a Life Goes On coordinator. She would like to let all the gals in the Life Goes On support group to know how much she loved them all! Judy also wanted to thank Dr. Rafat Ansari, Dr. Michael Method, Dr. Christopher Hall and Dr. Scott Blinkensderfer for taking such good care of her for the past 12 years while she battled with ovarian cancer. She wanted to let Stan Hynek and family know that they are the greatest people in the world and she was grateful to have met them during her lifetime. She was also a member of AA and the Fellowship House where she had wonderful friends to remember. Judy was a John Deer collector and belonged to Michiana Farm Toy; she also loved all animals and flowers.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, from 10 a.m. to noon in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A funeral liturgy will follow in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or to the charity of donor's choice.
