Gary Finger

Gary M. Finger
July 21, 1949 - Jan. 22, 2021
PONTE VEDRA, FL -

Gary M. Finger, 71, of Ponte Vedra, FL passed away on January 22, 2021. He was born July 21, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles “Tuggy” Finger and Martha (Deloris), aka Marti) Finger. He was an inquisitive child and always enjoyed learning. He sang in the glee club and church, played saxophone and football, and was a Boy Scout.

Gary attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and was the Social Director of his fraternity, Sigma Nu. He joined the Navy, graduated from Purdue University, and married Gwen's best friend, Malia Seall. He had an exciting career as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot. Nobody told a story better than Gary, and most of it would be true.

After 20 years, he retired from the Navy. He went to the University of North Florida and got his Master's degree in education. He taught math and became a principal. By then, his grandchildren had many activities and he never missed a game. He was so proud of them.

Left with so many good memories are daughter, Jennifer (Finger) Allen, Hailey and Whitney Allen; son, Kenneth Zane Finger, Ashton and Emma Finger; sister, Gwen (Finger) Oldfield, and sister-in-law, Lesley (Seall) and Denny Orsund. Gary was a talented wood carver, creating beautiful bowls and pens. But his favorite hobby was fishing. He started at an early age, fishing with his Dad in the “Tugboat”. He loved family time spent together in the Keys. If there's water and a pole in Heaven, he'll be happy. Oops, almost forgot. He loved his three dogs and two cats and they loved him back, unconditionally, with hugs and kisses, and licks.
