Thomas M. Cunningham, 28, of East Lake Drive, died of smoke carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation due to a hotel fire, according to Elkhart County Coroner Marvin Riegsecker.
He was born on April 17, 1951, in South Bend.
He was a graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He was employed in the Elkhart County CETA office.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Cunningham ( of Elkhart; two sisters, Sandra L. and Susan L., both. of Elkhart; three brothers, Joseph J. III of South Bend and Timothy J. and John P., both of Elkhart, and his grandmother, Mrs. Helen B. Cunningham of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bristol. Rev. John Vrabely, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the WalleyMills Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
