David R. Anderson
David R. Anderson, 77, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 11:39 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
He was born December 8, 1946, in South Bend, a son of the late William Arvard & Geza J. (Karoly) Anderson and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. He was a 1964 graduate of John Adams High School, and recently attended his class reunion. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.
On June 27, 1996 in South Bend, David was united in marriage to Roberta “Bobbie” A. Shull, and together they have enjoyed 28 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his niece Karen of South Bend. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert H. Anderson.
David retired in 2009 from the United States Postal Service where he served as a letter carrier and later worked maintenance. He was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church. David enjoyed Ballroom dancing, going on cruises with Bobbie, attending plays at The Barns in Nappanee, watching westerns and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Visitation for David will be from 10:00 a.m.-Noon Thursday, Aug. 29, at Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, with Rev. Michelle Cobb pastor, and Rev. James Bracke, CSC officiating. Graveside services and military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Anderson may be offered to Fresenius Medical Care, Pet Refuge, or Evangel Heights United Methodist Church. The Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel is assisting the Anderson Family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
