SOUTH BEND - Richard S. Feingold, 70, died Sunday morning in his home in South Bend after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 16, 1945, to Harry and Gertrude Feingold, both deceased.

On September 24, 1978, in Mishawaka, he married Nancy J. Sulok, who survives. Other survivors are a brother, Robert (Eileen) Feingold of Highlands Ranch, CO; a nephew, Ron (Lora) Feingold of Clermont, FL; a niece, Renee (Rob) Helten of Highlands Ranch; his mother-in-law, Anita Sulok of Mishawaka; brothers-in-law, Fred (Judy) Sulok of South Bend and Victor (Melanie) Sulok of Granger; sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Morris of Ormond Beach, FL and Anita (Tom ) Baranowski of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous maternal nieces and nephews.

Richard worked for more than 20 years at Indiana University South Bend, providing multi-media support to faculty, staff members and students; he left there in the early 1980s. He worked simultaneously as a professional photographer, capturing memories of countless weddings and other life cycle and special events. He also was a professional stagehand, working at all of the major shows at the Morris Performing Arts Center, at Notre Dame and other venues. He was the former business agent for Local 187 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees

. He enjoyed meeting and working with many of the big stars who performed here. Dick was a 1964 graduate of Adams High School and held an associate's degree from IUSB. He taught photography for many years at IUSB and at the South Bend Art Center. He served for more than 25 years as an adult leader in photography for the Penn Township 4-H Club, teaching 4-H members photography and judging their projects.

He was a long-time supporter of WNIT, the local Public Broadcasting Station, and enjoyed volunteering every year as a cameraman at the station's annual auctions. Dick served in the early 1960s as a photographer with the South Bend Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Dick enjoyed traveling and visited many places, from Hawaii on the west to Germany on the east. He was an active member of the South Bend Press Club and the South Bend Alumni Association.

Following Dick's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Bend Alumni Association, 215 S. St. Joseph St., South Bend, IN 46601, or the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
