Karen Sue Spaulding, 68, residing in South Bend, IN passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born on August 12, 1946 in South Bend, IN a daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn (Kuszmaul) Gibson, and has remained a lifeong resident of South Bend. On July 24, 1965 in South Bend, IN she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard T. Spaulding.

She is survived by her husband Richard, her mother, Evelyn Harman of Mishawaka; and her four sons, Kenneth (Ronda) Spaulding, Daniel (Heather) Spaulding, Richard (Emily) Spaulding and Matthew (Emily) Spaulding, all of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Cody, Joseph, Danielle, Gibson, Truman, and Ella Spaulding, one great grandson, Oliver Spaulding, her sister, Linda Falletta of Granger, and her mother-in-law, Ella Spaulding of South Bend.

Karen was a 1964 graduate of John Adams High School. She was employed as a legal secretary for Attorney Bruce Bon Durant for more than twenty years, and formerly worked as a real estate broker for Barger & Associates. She had a great love for quilting and was an accomplished seamstress. She has been a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church since 1990 . She and Dick formerly worshipped at Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a member of the Quilt Guild, and "In-Stitches" Sewing Club.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend, IN. Rev. Rich Siri will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN, and one hour prior to services Saturday at Church.

Contributions in memory of Karen Sue Spaulding may be offered to the Supporting Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545, to honor the wonderful care they provided to Karen and her whole family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
