George Klingerman

George Robert Klingerman

George Robert Klingerman, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023, in South Bend, IN, the same town where he was born on November 26, 1945. George will always be remembered for his selfless, loving, and thoughtful nature, which he generously extended to his family, friends, and community throughout his incredible 77 years on this earth.

George was the beloved husband of Judith Klingerman and the proud father of two daughters, Kim and Shannon, and one son, George Jr. In addition to cherishing his immediate family, George was a doting grandfather to seven grandchildren—Jasmine, Deven, Brooklyn, Cameron, Madison, Miya, and Isaiah—and five great-grandchildren—Gabberell, Kelsi, Asher, Kiana, and Sophia. His family was the center of his life, and he never missed a chance to be involved in their journeys, sharing laughter, love, and support over countless family gatherings. George is also survived by his three sisters, Sharon, Marjorie, and LeeAnn.

After high school, George was drafted into the US Army during Vietnam where he was a cook. Upon returning home George married the love of his life and started his career as a self-employed floor installer. He was also co-owner of Terry’s Foodland. He was also a member of the South Bend American Legion Post 357.

George adored spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with whom he spent memorable moments. He was an enthusiastic cook, taking great pride and enjoyment in preparing delicious meals for his family and loved ones. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by family and friends, enjoying a good meal and each other's company.

George was also an avid lover of the outdoors, spending much of his free time outside, whether in the pool, working with his many flowers, enjoying NASCAR car races, or fishing with his friends.

George Robert Klingerman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be a guiding light, inspiring those who remain to carry on his legacy of selflessness, love, and thoughtfulness.
