John P. Sjoquist, 77, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at his home on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Born on June 9, 1947, to Kermit and Mildred (Swan) Sjoquist, John grew up in Indiana and graduated from John Adams High School in the Class of 1965. He continued his education at Indiana University, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1970 and an MBA in 1972.
John dedicated part of his life to serving others through the Peace Corps before embarking on a career in computer programming. His work reflected his analytical mind and dedication to innovation.
A lover of travel and the arts, John enjoyed exploring new destinations and listening to classical music. He was also an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hiking and cycling. Among his many interests, racquetball held a special place in his heart and remained his favorite pastime throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, James Sjoquist of Indiana and Frederick Sjoquist of Arizona. He is survived by one nephew, three nieces, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish his memory.
John has been laid to rest alongside his parents at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Indiana.

John R Parmerlee (1965)
Jack and I had been friends for 65 years. We were friends at church, in high school choir, in Scouts, and in our adult life. Jack was the Best Man when Terri and I got married. He liked to keep moving and ran a lot of miles, and played a lot of raquetball in South Bend and in the other locations around the country where he lived. The only negative thing I could say about him is that he did not always appreciate my great jokes. RIP old friend!.
John Miller (1962)
The Sjoquist family lived across the street from us. I grew up with Jim and Fred, John's (Jack as I knew him) older brothers, but Jack was always around. They were all part of the family. My sister, Jill, had some contact with Fred who lived in Albuquerque. We played football in Sjoquist's back yard and ran the sleds down the big hill into the Morris Park Country Club. And, I helped Jim and Fred deliver the South Bend Tribune in the neighborhood. More Eagles are aloft.
