ELKHART - Keith D. Sorenson, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the Hospice House in South Bend. He was born December 1, 1946, in South Bend, to the late Arthur Lloyd and Alice Faye (Dillingham) Sorenson.

On August 7, 1993, in South Bend, he married Elizabeth “Becky” (Yeagley) Boyer. She survives along with two children, Leif Michael Sorenson, Kimberly (Dale Uhl) Sorenson-Brugh, both of Mishawaka; two stepchildren, Jennifer Boyer of Valdosta, GA, Cindy (Rodney) Cogbill of Mechanicsville, VA; four grandchildren, Kristen Brugh, Kollin Brugh, Christopher Cogbill, Ainsley Cogbill; and a great-grandson, Ethan Penland. Also surviving are a brother, Robert (Joan) Arnold of White Heath, IL; his father-in-law, Donald Yeagley of Mishawaka; his brother-in-law, James Yeagley of South Bend; and his former wife, Nancy (Don) Scott-Olson of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Habijanac.

Keith graduated in 1965 from John Adams High School in South Bend. He served proudly in the US Army from 1967 - 1975 and attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN.

Keith worked in finance for most of his life including banking and credit project management. He retired in 2009 from Hubbell-Raco in South Bend.

He was a member of the American Legion. Keith was a naturalist who loved nature; he also had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed history and doing research, was very detailed, and enjoyed reading manuals in his free time. In his younger years he was very active in the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and the Legal Aid Board.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. A private family graveside will be held at a later date at West Lawn Cemetery in North Liberty, IN.
