Virginia Eileen Andreae

Oct. 11, 1924 - Mar. 7, 2004

 

Virginia Eileen Andreae, 79, of West Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Sunday morning March 7, in Alterra Sterling House of South Bend, Ind.

Virginia was born on October 11, 1924, in South Bend to the late Thomas H. and Dorothy (Williams) Carr. Virginia graduated in 1946 from the Ball State Teachers College, and was employed with the South Bend School Corporation retiring after thirty-three years of service. She was a member of the N.E.A. (National Education Association), and the Bowlers Country Club. As Virginia E. Carr, she married Ralph J. Andreae in South Bend on December 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Don Carr in 1975.

Virginia is survived by her two children, John, of Granger and Diana Zakrowski. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Don and Dave Zakrowski, and Angela and Lisa Andreae; three great grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Megan Zakrowski; and two brothers, Howard Carr, of Granger, Ind., and Robert Carr, of Indianapolis, Ind.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 11, from noon until 3 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Robert Vale officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.

The family would like to thank the Alterra Sterling House Staff, Dr. Richard Buck and Dr. Alfred Cox, along with Hospice of St. Joseph County for the exceptional care and comfort they provided for Virginia.
