Elvin Charles Huss

Aug. 20, 1924 - Jan. 21, 2005

Elvin C. "Al" Huss was born in South Bend, Ind., on Aug. 20, 1924, and it was there that he grew up playing baseball and basketball every free minute he could find.

He would go on to proudly serve his country in the Army infantry during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge with honor and courage. He continued his service as the leader of the Motorcycle Military Police, and later in the Criminal Investigation Department. After completing his service, he went to work for Studebaker until the plant closed.

Al went on to a 33-year career in Indiana, Ohio and California consulting and selling dental equipment to dentists. After his retirement from Patterson Dental, he still couldn't be idle, so he started a ten-year career as a manager at one of the Holiday Corporation Retirement Homes in northern California.

Al's additional joys in life were his family, his horses, joking with family and friends, and living in the mild climate of the picturesque West.

Al leaves behind his wife, Wanda; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Paul Lannquist; his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryle and John Case; and his grandchildren, Nicole and Austin.

Al was laid to rest after a full military honors funeral in northern Nevada on Jan. 26, 2005.
