MARY MARGARET (MONAHAN) POROWSKI
Feb. 8, 1925 - Jan. 4, 2009
TERRE HAUTE - Mary Margaret (Monahan) Porowski passed away January 4, 2009, in
the home of her daughter in Terre Haute, IN. She was born February 8, 1925, to Paul
and Anna (McCaffrey) Monahan. She was a graduate of John Adams High School and a
35-year retiree from the University of Notre Dame. Survivors include sons, Joseph of
Bloomington, IN, Paul and wife, Connie of Lakeland, FL, Tim and wife, Lisa of Granger,
and daughter, Ann and husband, Dennis of Terre Haute, IN. Additional survivors
include grandchildren, Kari Porowski, Branden and wife, Crystal Porowski, Kristen
Porowski, Shannon Porowski, Amy and husband, Isaac Strecker; great-grandchildren,
Sarah, Caitlyn and Luke Strecker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John
Porowski; sister, Helen Haublitzel Wooster; and brothers, John Monahan and Joseph
Monahan. Mary was an avid golfer and bowler, a lifetime member of American Turner
Hall, and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be held
Friday, January 9th, at noon at St. Pius X Church in Granger, with visitation one hour
prior to the service. Private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. The family
requests that memorial contributions be made to your local area hospice organization.
