Betty Yvonne (Near) Worley

Mishawaka – Betty Yvonne Worley, aged 102, passed away on October 28, 2025, at her residence in Bloomington, Indiana. She formerly resided in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Betty was born on September 30, 1923, in South Bend, Indiana, to Bernice Marie (Edick) Near and Joseph Rodney Near. She graduated from Adams High School and worked at Bendix, where she met her future husband, William (Bill) Edward Worley. They were married on August 17, 1946. Bill preceded her in death in 1995.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Pam Marx (Gary) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Paula Worley of Bloomington, Indiana; granddaughters Gretchen Behnke and Sara Lipsey of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and four great-grandsons: Riley Martin, Tristan Fletcher, London, and Jared. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Betty enjoyed playing golf, bowling and other sports, nature and the outdoors, holidays with family, the color pink, sharing laughter with friends, a nice drive on a fall day, chocolate, her Mishawaka ceramics group and projects, and later in life watercolor painting.
As a child, she spent summers fishing and swimming at Bankson Lake in Michigan, where her family used a converted caboose as a cabin. She cherished memories of visiting her cousins and her beloved grandfather Edick at his dairy farm. Fishing remained a favorite activity, which she enjoyed with her husband, children, and grandchildren—including a memorable trip to Alaska.
Betty loved golf and excelled at the game. She was an active member of the Four Lakes Country Club in Edwardsburg for many years, along with her husband.
She was a great storyteller—kind, curious, and, even at 102, still had a twinkle in her eye that promised mischief and laughter. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Palmer Funeral Home ~ Bubb Chapel, 3910 North Main St., Mishawaka, Indiana 46545, from 11:00 am ~ 1:00 pm. followed by the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Granger, Indiana. Palmers is honored with assisting the family with arrangement.
