Donald “Bud” Patrick Corban
January 25, 1936 ~ April 18, 2026
Donald “Bud” Patrick Corban (January 25, 1936 – April 18, 2026), age 90, of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Lakeville, Indiana), passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 25, 1936, to Fred and Isabell Corban, Bud was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather whose warm smile and generous heart touched everyone he met. A proud 1954 graduate of Adams High School, he earned his barber license in June 1956 and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1955 to 1958.
Bud’s lifelong dedication to service shone brightly during his 20 years with the South Bend Fire Department, where he joined on May 20, 1968, and retired on June 24, 1988. Beyond his calling as a firefighter, he was a passionate entrepreneur who built businesses from the ground up. From Lakeville, he founded Lakeville Office Furniture in 1975, expanded with a second store in Benton Harbor, Michigan, in 1980. He also, successfully ran Corban’s Barber Shop, a coin collection and trading store, a pizza parlor, and Bud’s Wash-a-Plane at the South Bend International Airport.
In retirement, Bud embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. He moved to Lakeland, Florida, where he cherished sunny days fishing, memorable cruises, performing magic tricks that delighted his friends and grandchildren, and attending his weekly dance social for fun and connection. His playful spirit and love for people made every gathering brighter.
Bud is survived by his six children: Julie Vore of South Bend, Indiana; John (Kara) Corban of South Bend, Indiana; Jeff (Lisa) Corban of Warsaw, Indiana; Jena Pajot (Joe) of Sebring, Florida; Jay Corban of Osceola, Indiana; and Janice Lee (Bill) of Miami, Florida. He leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren and 8 precious great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, and his one sister.
Though our hearts ache with his passing, we find comfort knowing Bud lived a rich, vibrant life filled with purpose, adventure, and family devotion. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and laughter will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to love him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always carried in our hearts.
