Roy R. Lowman Oct. 2, 1936 - Sept. 11, 2014 GRANGER - A hero passed away on September 11, 2014.

Roy Richard Lowman was not only a hero as a former Marine and South Bend fire fighter but also a hero to all the lives he touched. Family came first to Rick. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. As a faithful member of the Elkhart East Christian Church, much of his time was spent at services and church functions.

His hobbies consisted of traveling, golfing, and bowling. Some of his accomplishments included running several marathons and owning his own successful electrical business for many years.

Rick was born to Roy Richard Lowman and Margaret Knoblock in Mishawaka, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Sherril Bryant Lowman; sister, Mary Ann Keb; daughters, Lori (Roger) Heise and Linda Lowman; son, Doug (Kristie) Lowman; children by marriage: Ron (Jen) Bryant, Cindy (Steve) Carlock, Lori (Lyman) Lalk, Jeff (Loretta) Bryant and Doug (Laure) Bryant; twenty grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 16, at Kaniewski Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart East Christian Church, South Bend Fire Department, or to Pet Refuge.
