Retired TSGT Philip Todd Stivers, 61, of Kempner, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early Saturday morning, September 6, 2025. Phil was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Alonzo and Carillon Stivers. He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend in
1982. He then went on to Ball State in Muncie, IN from 1983-1986. Phil met lifelong friends from Ball State but decided that he could not get a degree from partying and joined the Air Force.
He enlisted in the Air Force in November of 1986. While in the Air Force he served in the Security Forces and then later cross-trained into Combat Arms (CATM). Philip was stationed all over the world, but in 1997 when he was stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, he met the love of his life and forever Valentine, Michele. They married on February 14, 1997. They have 4 beautiful children together and 2 very loved grandchildren. He was known to the grandchildren as "Hada".
Philip retired from the Air Force in January 2007 after serving honorably for 20 years and 2 months. Once Phil retired from the Air Force he served as Fort Hood police for 2 years. His CATM position became available to him once again and he went back to that position as Civil
Service serving the Air Force community stationed at Ft. Hood. He retired from that position on May 3, 2025, after serving 17 more years to his country. He loved the Air Force and dedicated his life serving our country and others.
Philip and Michele have been married for 27 wonderful years. Their marriage was like no other. He spoiled his wife with his daily notes, ironing and making her coffee. There was not a moment that went by without him showing his love and affection towards her. Michele says
that she truly was blessed with the love of a lifetime. They loved to travel and take last minute trips together. They had both just retired from their positions and were about to set out traveling in their 5th wheel across the country. They called it Phil and Michele's epic retirement
adventure.
Phil and Michele have 4 amazing children together. There was not a moment that he would miss watching them play baseball, cheerleading or any other activity that they pursued. He was the best cheer dad ever. He loved making their lunches for school and walking them to the bus stop every morning. His love for his children was always present, and he was so proud of the adults that they have become.
Phil loved to make people laugh with his quirky smart comebacks or the many nicknames he gave to people. He always had a mischievous grin and laughter that you could feel deep in your soul. Phil's favorite hobby other than his family was his passion for Angry Birds. He dedicated time daily to remain one of the highest scorers ever. He will be greatly missed by many people whose lives he has touched.
