SOUTH BEND - Veronica A. (Crosson) Flynn, 58, passed away peacefully after an illness on September 16, 2017. Born and raised in South Bend, Veronica was a daughter of the late Frederick J. and Patricia Burns Crosson. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1977, from the University of Notre Dame in 1981, and earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan in 1984. Initially she worked in patient education before deciding to pursue a teaching career shortly after moving to the Boston area in 1994. She taught health and stress management classes at Saugus High School for over 20 years. Veronica was a compassionate mentor for generations of students at Saugus, and her classroom was a safe haven. She will be remembered for her liveliness, laughter, creativity, love of nature and physical activity, lifelong devotion to children, and most of all her warmth and generosity. She is survived by her sons, Sean and Brian Flynn of Wilmington, MA; her siblings, Jessica, Christopher, Benjamin and Jennifer Crosson; and her nephews, Andrew, Noah and Chris. In accordance with her wishes and those of her family, memorial services were private. Donations in her memory may be made to the Veronica Flynn Memorial Fund, c/o Webster Federal Credit Union, 509 Main St., Saugus, MA 01906. All donations will go towards a room to be named in Veronica's honor at the planned new Saugus High School, currently under design.
