Rebecca Jane Robinson

Rebecca Jane Robinson was born September 4, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from John Adams High School as a National Merit Finalist and was recognized by the Governor as one of the top twenty high school graduates in Indiana in 1977. In 1981, Robinson graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, with an MBA in Finance and Operations Management and a bachelor's in accounting with honors through the School of Business Honors Program. She completed both degrees in four years and was honored as an Indiana University Distinguished Scholar.

From 1981-2000, Robinson held various senior management positions with Union Pacific Resources in Fort Worth, Texas. She anticipated completing her Ph.D. in June 2006, with major fields in U.S. History and Economic History and a secondary field in British History from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. In June, Robinson was awarded a Fellowship to the West Point Summer Seminar in Military History, 2005. She was chosen as one of the 100 women leaders from around the country, based on professional achievements and community involvement, to work together on leadership development projects through Leadership America, class of 1999. In 2000, Robinson was recognized as one of the city's leading businesswomen by the YWCA, Fort Worth, TX. In addition, from 1999-2000, she was president of the Tarrant County League of Women Voters.

Robinson was preceded in death by her father, Robert Newlin Robinson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lu Robinson of Fairway, KS; brother, Richard L. Robinson and wife, Susan of Arlington, TX; nieces, April Marie Layton of Fort Worth, TX, and Kathryn Kay Robinson of Arlington, TX; nephew, John Newlin Robinson of Arlington, TX; and an aunt, Nancy Bitters of Gulf Breeze, FL.

Robinson will be buried in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Bloomington, IN.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Robert N. Robinson Scholarship Fund at Indiana University, South Bend, IN.
