Charles Edward Pawell, Jr., 65, of South Bend, passed away at home on August 11, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. Born on March 9, 1959, in South Bend, Charles was a lifelong resident and a cherished member of the community.
Charles, was the beloved son of the late Charles and Carla Leah (Cox) Pawell, Sr. He was a devoted husband to Katherine (Horvath) Pawell, whom he married on August 4, 1984, and together they shared a life full of love and companionship. Their home was filled with joy and the antics of their cats, Rocky, Freddy, and Scarlett, who were like children to the couple.
Charles was a loving brother to Christine (Rodger) Holston and a fun-loving uncle to nephews Joshua and Jordan Osborne, and great-niece Maddie Osborne. He also held a special place in the hearts of his mother (father)-in-law, Mary (Edward) Horvath, brother-in-law, Steve (Donna) Horvath, nephew-in-law, Matthew Horvath, niece-in-law, Kelly (Randy) Cline, along with their son, Brendan Cline, aunt-in-law, Cathy Knebel (Cary Crawley), and cousins-in-law, Kevin and Makenzie Crawley. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
For over two decades, Charles dedicated his career to AM General in the Military Hummer Plant, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and friendly presence, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.
Outside of work, Charles was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the South Bend Cubs, rarely missing a game and always rooting for his teams with fervent enthusiasm. He also enjoyed Notre Dame Football and Women's Basketball, often engaging in lively discussions about the latest games and players. His love for sports was only matched by his passion for movies. Charles had an impressive collection of movies on VHS tape and DVDs, with a particular fondness for Sci-Fi and Marvel movies. He was a regular at the local cinema, always eager to catch the latest releases on the big screen.
Those who knew Charles will remember him for his fun-loving and laid-back personality. He had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy to many.
Family and friends may gather to share memories and offer condolences for Charles on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 11 am till 12 noon at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, located at 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615.
