Robyn Rebecca Moore

June 11, 1961 - March 26, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Robyn Rebecca Moore was born on June 11, 1961, to the union of James H. and Delores Harvey Moore. She was one of three children born to that union. Robyn passed away on March 26, 2010, in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by hr mother and friends. She leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Delores L. Moore; her sister, Dawn E. Moore; and a host of relatives and friends.

I think she always loved teaching and learning. Her sister Dawn was her first student and her classroom was our home. She taught hr sister how to speak clearly and to listen attentively.

As a child she always loved music. When she was being potty-trained she would sit on her potty and sing in the loudest voice possible, very using for what it was intended.

Robyn started playing the flute at Perley School and when she was in the fifth grade her dad bought her a flute. She loved it and played exceptionally well.

She then went to Stanley Clark School from the 6th grade through the 8th. During this time she learned to ice skate, played a flute concert, and made many friends.

Robyn then went to John Adams High School where she excelled academically. In her junior year of high school she toured Europe with Purdue's Orchestra. She enjoyed playing in the band and orchestra. Her talents led her to be accepted into The South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra. Her last year of playing with the symphony she was elevated to playing first chair flute. Robyn graduated Summa Cum Laude in a class of approximately 400 students.

She decided and was accepted to Obelin College in Ohio where she received her Bachelor's of Science degree. She returned home the summer after her college graduation and was a probation officer at the Juvenile Justice Center. There she decided that she wanted to work with young people, so she went to Harvard and got her Master's Degree in education in 1994. In that same year she started teaching at Boston's Latin Academy. Summer of 2009 she was honored by being asked to play with the renowned FESTIVAL OF The FLUTES in Boston. This was one of many highlights of Robyn's life. She taught there for 16 years until her untimely passing. Robyn was also an accomplished jewelry maker. She taught classes at the South Bend Century Center and at Boston Latin Academy. Many of her family and friends wear pieces of her beautiful jewelry daily.

Robyn always loved people; she could speak to the youngest up to the oldest with respect and understanding. She had a way of making acquaintances feel that she had always known them and she had a way of making everyone she loved feel like they were special to her, like they were her family and part of her being. She loved life and life loved her.

You are invited to join us on July 5, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1501 W. Washington, to memorialize her life.
