Susan "Sue" Fries Obituary
Susan “Sue” G. (Stewart) Fries, known affectionately as Sue to all who knew her, departed this world on November 23, 2024, at the age of 62, in Mishawaka, IN. She was born in South Bend, IN, on May 16, 1962, a town that held her heart from the very beginning.
The epitome of love and friendship, Sue shared her life's journey with her devoted husband, who survives, Richard “Rick” L. Fries. Their union, begun on June 7, 1997, in their hometown of South Bend, marked by shared laughter, adventure, and unwavering partnership. Though Sue's father William L. Stewart, her mother Helen Kathryn (Forrester) Stewart, and her brother Thomas L. Stewart preceded her, she continues to be loved and remembered by her caring sister Barbara (John) Kujawski; her in-laws, Sam and Dixie Fries; sisters-in-law Karin (Steve) Schafer, Julie Kawalski, Miranda (Jon) Fulmer, Sue Stewart; and brother-in-law Jeff (Kim) Fries.
A proud alumna of South Bend Adams High School, Sue's spirit of organization and love for structure brought tranquility to her home and joy to her family. Her enthusiasm for nature and the simple pleasures of life was evident in her love of camping, her tidy spaces, and the care she devoted to her beloved animal companions.
Sue's life was a reflection of what she valued most: family togetherness, showcased in the cherished ritual of Friday night family dinners, and her unmistakable braids that became a symbol of her unique personality. Sue’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love for nature, animals, and the simple joy of being in the moment.
Her passing leaves behind a legacy of friendliness, love, and the enduring image of a life lived with joyous simplicity. Sue will be profoundly missed, and the memories she has created will continue to bring warmth and smiles to all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
