In Memory
Rosemary Elizabeth Lindahl
November 30, 1953 ~ April 30, 2025 71 Years Old
Rosemary E. Lindahl, affectionately known as Rosey, was a beacon of light and joy in the lives of everyone she touched. Born on November 30, 1953, in Mishawaka, Indiana, she grew into a woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering friendship. Her battle has ended. Rosey fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she kept the faith. Rosey met her Lord and Savior at 6:55, April 30, 2025. The world lost a bright and shining star to cancer, but her legacy of love and laughter will forever remain.
As a 1972 graduate of John Adams High School, Rosey embarked on a work journey that showcased her dedication and commitment. Starting at Kmart while still in high school, she spent 18 years with the company, forming friendships that would last a lifetime. Even after three decades, she would reunite with old colleagues for their traditional "Kmart" breakfasts, a testament to the strong bonds she built. With the same dedication, Rosey served the members of TCU with over 25 years of faithful service as a Teller and supervisor. Her retirement in January 2019 was met with fond farewells from those who had come to rely on her kind heart and helpful nature. It was not just the end of a career but a moment of reflection for the many lives she touched. Rosey’s presence was a gift to those she served.
An avid fan of Notre Dame Women's Basketball, Rosey's passion for the game was evident with her ND decorated den at home and supporting the team with fervor, joining the “Fast Break” club long before the era of season tickets. She was thrilled to be in St. Louis cheering loudly when her team won the National Championship in 2001. Her commitment to service was evident through her longstanding volunteer work with the SVdP group at St. Matthew, where she served those in need with a heart full of grace.
Rosey's love for music was a melody that played through the years. She taught herself to play the guitar with her favorite 60’s and 70’s tunes. She had a song for every occasion! Her admiration for Anne Murray was no secret, with “Could I have this Dance” holding a special place in her heart. She was a fan from the early days, cherishing memories of a Disneyland concert long before the singer's rise to fame. Another favorite of hers was "Spirit in the Sky" which she envisioned as the anthem of her final farewell, a tune that captured her essence and her belief in a joyful afterlife.
Card games were not just a pastime for Rosey; they were a conduit for laughter and camaraderie. Whether it was Euchre, Bid Euchre, or Pitch, the joy was in the company she kept—her close friends who meant the world to her.
Yet, her true "Happy Place" was in the den, alongside her best friend Patti, as they shared their favorite shows and countless moments of joy. Travel was another of Rosey's delights, with Oakwood Park at Lake Wawasee and the magical world of Disney ranking among her favorite destinations. Our “Eeyore” made her final cherished trip to Disney last September with her nephew David, a dream fulfilled, a memory to be held dear.
Described by those who knew her best as funny, faith-filled, courageous, and a real trooper, Rosey lived a life that exemplified the power of positivity. Left to cherish her memory are Patti Spurgeon, her best friend for over 50 years, her sister, Beth Ann Marquardt, niece, Janet Willard, great-nephew, Seth, and nephew, David Lindahl. Rosey’s life was further enriched by the love and support of her special cousin, Mary Ann Jacobs, her "adopted" sisters, Pam Bliley and Paula Spink, Sister Emmanuel/Handmaids of the Most Holy Trinity, and countless friends. Rosey was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Charles Lindahl, her brother, John Lindahl, sister-in-law Evelyn Lindahl, and brother-in-law Don Marquardt. Each relationship was a testament to the love she so freely gave.
Rosey's story is not one of an end but a beautiful reminder that life, in all its complexities, is a gift to be cherished and shared. She lived her life with a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest of days, a faith that moved mountains, and a courage that inspired all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Her memory will continue to inspire, her laughter will echo through the lives she touched, and her spirit will live on as a guiding light for us all. As we bid farewell to Rosey (Ro), let us celebrate the light she brought into this world and the smiles she left behind. Her journey continues beyond the stars, a dance of joy in the heavens, as inspiring as the life she so beautifully lived.
Rest in peace, dear Rosey. Your dance will continue in the memories of those who loved you and in the legacy of kindness you've left behind.
