Deoborah Kaye Kluga

 

Deborah K. Kluga, 49, of Mission, KS, died Monday, December 20, 2004, from ocular melanoma. Memorial services will be 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Unity Temple on the Plaza. Cremation. Following services, there will be a reception for family and friends at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall, Overland Park. Deb was born September 17, 1955, in South Bend, IN, the second of three daughters born to Henry and Mary Kluga. She was raised in South Bend, and graduated from Indiana University. After residing in Chicago for several years, Deb moved to the Kansas City area in 1989. She worked for GE Capital for 7 years before joining American Century Investments in 1996. Although an independence spirit, Deb was devoted to her family and friends, and especially loved animals. She was well known for her sharp wit and her life-long love of the absurd. Her many talents included a gift for creative writing, both poetry and prose. Her numerous achievements at American Century include the "Integrity Award" and "Team Coordinator of the Year" in 2003. Deb was preceded in death by her father, and both paternal and maternal grandparents. Those left to remember her include her mother, Mary Kluga, of South Bend, IN; her sisters, Pamela Roland and her husband Larry, and their son Christopher, all of Overland Park, KS, and Sandy Weides and her husband Mike and their sons Jason and Matt, of South Bend; and her many devoted friends, especially Diane Constantin, Mary Sapp, Kendall Gangel, Ange Cantrell, and Sean Maschler.
