Michael D. Mennucci, 61, of St. Joseph, passed away at his home on Monday, June 4, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 15, 2018 at 11:30 AM at St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 North Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN with Father Terry Coonan officiating. Friends may visit with the family Thursday June 14, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Seven Star Sanctuary and Rescue. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the FOP Lodge #96, 2665 Niles Road, St Joseph, MI. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Michael was born on October 4, 1956, to Don & Martha (Funk) Mennucci in South Bend, Indiana. He married Susan in 1991 in Stevensville, MI. Upon graduation from Purdue University with his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and his Masters Degree in  Health Physics he started his career in the nuclear field. Most of his 36 years were spent at Palisades Nuclear Plant, holding many positions, with his last positions of Senior Maintenance Specialist and Project Manager. Michael was an avid collector of pocket watches and coins and he loved playing couples golf on Friday nights with friends. Michael’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family. The time with Susan, Samantha and loving pets at home with family and friends was his perfect pastime. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta at Purdue and also a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Michael is survived by his wife Susan; daughter Samantha Mennucci; sisters Marsha (Michael) Gallichio and Diane (Alan) Amling; his nieces and nephew Alexandra, Sydney and Jack Amling. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Martha(Funk) Mennucci and his brother David J. Mennucci.
