Barbara A. (Steinhofer) Hezlep
Barbara (Barb) A. Hezlep, 66, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday December 24, 2024 in her home. She was born on June 11, 1958, in South Bend, to the late John and Irene (Teichman) Steinhofer and was a lifelong area resident.
On October 23, 1993 she married Norm Hezlep, who survives. Also surviving are her two sons, Nick (Gussie) Catanzarite of South Bend and Normie (Rachel) Hezlep of Indianapolis, IN, three grandchildren, Michael (Brittany) Mann, Gina (Cody) Lindt, and Nichole (Donovan) Quist, a sister, Mary (Jeff) Haas of South Bend, three brothers, David (Nancy) Steinhofer of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jack Steinhofer of Kalamazoo, MI and Paul (Mindy) Steinhofer of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Barb worked as a Cashier/Service Manager at Target, before retiring in 2015. After her retirement, she kept in touch with a special group of ladies she worked with and lovingly called “the Target girls”. Barb enjoyed cooking and creating wonderful dishes for her family to enjoy. She shared this passion with her son Normie, who carries on her legacy in the kitchen. Barb loved her garden and the beauty it brought to the world. Most of all Barb loved sharing adventures and quality time with all those she loved. She was a Parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday January 2, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday January 3, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilbur Street, South Bend. Burial will follow in Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice or Riverbend Cancer Services.
