SOUTH BEND - Monica Anne Witsken, 52, of Mishawaka, IN, died Thursday, August 17, 2017. Monica was born November 20, 1964, to Mary and Clarence Witsken, both of whom preceded her in death. Monica is survived by her brother, William (Margie) Witsken; her nieces, Lauren and Annie; her nephew, Evan (Taylor) Witsken; and her great-nieces, Bailey and Reagan.

Monica graduated John Adams High School in 1983 and then attended St. Mary's College on an academic scholarship. While growing up Monica excelled in swimming at Morris Park Country Club and with the Michiana Marlins. She also had a love for gymnastics, in fact she presented gold medalist Nadia Comaneci with a bouquet during a gymnastics exhibition at Notre Dame. In high school Monica excelled in academics and track and field. She was one of two girls who ran in the boys' state championship while in high school. The family has appreciated the well wishes and condolences over the last few days.

There will be a private memorial sevice for Monica celebrated by Monsignor William Schooler followed by entombment next to Mom and Dad at Riverview Cemetery. God Speed Monica, may you rest in peace.
