In Memory
Yalanda J. Adams
July 23, 1991 ~ March 29, 2025 (age 33)
We are gathered here to celebrate the remarkable life of Yalanda Adams, affectionately known as Chyna. Born on July 23, 1991, in Benton Harbor, MI, Yalanda lived her life to the fullest, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Chyna was a beacon of joy and positivity, who radiated laughter and love wherever she went. She had a contagious zest for life, which was evident in her memorable laugh and endless energy. "Life is a dance," she would say, "and I will dance all night if you let me." Chyna was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a devoted mother to her two beautiful daughters, A'Layah and Kenzley, a successful entrepreneur with her business "Kharm Couture," a dedicated dietary aide at Tanglewood Trace Senior Living, and an accomplished medical assistant. She loved designing crocs and expressed her artistic personality through each unique design. Her spirit, resilience, and strength were an inspiration to many. As author Kobi Yamada once said, "She turned her can'ts into cans and her dreams into plans."
Yalanda is survived by her mother, Tashianna (Quanah whom raised her as her father) Wilburn and her father, William Ford III. She also leaves behind her seven sisters; Cheyenne, Mashayla, Nakia, Tatianna Wilburn, Tiara, Wilnesha, Aleena Ford, and her three brothers; Zoran Wilburn II, William IV, Isaiah Ford. She is also survived by her step-father, Quanah Wilburn, her uncles; Zoran Wilburn, Tracy (Rhonda) Spearman, Tyrone Spearman, Rufus (Kateesha) Adams, Willie Jr., her aunts; Ollie Jean (Richard) Adams Lee, Sheila Adams, Cornelia Ford, Yalanda Ford, Lesaline Wallace, and her grandparents; Ruthie and Willie Adams, and William Jr. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Linda and William Wilburn, Quil Ficklen, her cousins; Jeffrey Phillips and Tyler Tanner.
To honor Yalanda’s vibrant life, a celebration will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00pm EST at the New Horizon Outreach Ministry, South Bend, Indiana, 46619. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. In the spirit of Chyna's favorite color, we encourage everyone to wear purple.
As we gather to remember her, let's remember the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” We invite all who knew and loved Yalanda to share their memories and photos of her on the memorial page. Let's remember her remarkable life together and keep her legacy alive.
