MISHAWAKA - Dean W. Lacopo, Jr., "Dino," passed away on October 4, 2015, in Colorado Springs, CO, at the age of 69. Dino is survived by his wife of 30 years, Teresa E. Lacopo; mother, Marie Ruthsatz Lacopo Hite, (Michigan City, IN); children, Anthony R. Lacopo (Tarpon Springs, FL), Michael D. Lacopo (Granger, IN), and Gregory A. Lacopo (Mishawaka, IN); step-daughter, Erin Hafner (Brad) (Niles, MI); siblings, Thomas Lee Lacopo (Jaye) (South Bend, IN), and Rebecca Jean Lacopo Singleton (South Bend, IN); grandchildren, Brooke Lacopo Cooley, Madison and Brianna Lacopo, Maxwell, William and Eileen Hafner; nieces and nephews, Jane Lacopo Dukes (Burlington, WI), Sally Lacopo Windnagle (Irving, TX), Dominic Lacopo (Greensboro, NC), William V. Singleton Jr. (South Bend, IN), and Carol Singleton McCaffery (South Bend, IN).

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean W. Lacopo Sr., and brother, Tony Louis Lacopo. Dino was born on February 25, 1946, in South Bend, IN, to Dean and Marie Lacopo. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1964 and went on to serve our country for 4 years as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

After returning home to Indiana, he began a career in law enforcement, and served 20 years as a member of the Mishawaka Police Department. A second career in Loss Prevention took him to New Mexico and Colorado, where, after 27 years with the Sears Holding Company, Dino retired. "I didn't like retirement," he said, and went back to work in Loss Prevention with The Bass Pro Shop, and said, "I'm loving life."

As a South Bend native, Dino was a passionate Notre Dame football fan. He was also an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. On any given day, you might see him walking his ritual three miles or working in his yard. Dino loved his family - and was loved by his family in return. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial is scheduled at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, followed by a graveside service at on Saturday, October 24, 2015 (375 W Cleveland Rd, Granger, IN, 46530). Dino will be laid to rest beside his beloved big brother, Tony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dino's life. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Red Cross would be appreciated.
