Charles Terry Baum, 81, of Mishawaka died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 2nd following a lengthy illness. Mr. Baum was born June 8, 1933 in South Bend to the late Virginia E. (Nichols) and Charles W. Baum and was a lifetime area resident.

On December 28, 1953 in South Bend he married Gloria Joy Schmaltz who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Baum, Donald Baum, and Judith Moore. He leaves behind his children, Jill Henderson (Scott) and Douglas Baum both of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Douglas, Matthew, and Mackenzie Baum and Eric Parmley all of Mishawaka and Andrea Parmley of Seattle, WA; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Makenzie both of Mishawaka; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Charles was a graduate of John Adams High School and served in the U.S. Army's 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper between 1953 and 1956. With his division he jumped in Panama and Germany. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. Charles retired from AM General of Mishawaka after 25 years and had been a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and Alleluia Lutheran Church.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21st in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com
