Dixie Lou (Day) McMichael

Dixie Lou McMichael, 87, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Friday afternoon, March 10, 2023, at Southfield Village, South Bend. Dixie was born on August 14, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Harry and Esther (Howell) Day and remained a lifelong resident.

Dixie is survived by her two sons, Chris (Linda) McMichael of Osceola, Indiana and Jeffrey (Lorri) McMichael of Mishawaka; grandson, Cameron (Connie) McMichael; granddaughter, Kayleigh (Anthony) Ring; two great-grandchildren, Francheska and Cole. Dixie was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Doyle.

Dixie was a clerical worker, retiring in 2000. She also modeled for Studebaker. Dixie attended Good Shephard Lutheran Church, South Bend. She was a charter member of South Bend Alumni Club. She enjoyed golf and once hit a hole-in-one. She also enjoyed artwork. Dixie dearly loved her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dixie will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home ~ Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614. Rev. Ed McCutchan, pastor of Lakeville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 15th from 4:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
