Sandra Lee (Wolford) Hamman
Sandra Lee Hamman, Sandy, 91, of Mishawaka passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Sandra was born on December 21, 1934 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to her parents Edmund A. Wolford and Frances M. (Freshwater) Wolford. Sandra graduated from John Adams High School in the class of 1953. On June 6, 1953 Sandra married Francis J. Hamman. They were joined in marriage in the first Presbyterian Church in Niles Michigan. They enjoyed a happy marriage for forty-four years until, "death do us part." Francis "Rock" was the love of her life and was missed every day. Sandy and Rock are now reunited for eternity. That marriage blessed them with three beautiful children, William, David and Karen. Each child became a good citizen, a productive successful adult, and a loving spouse.
Sandy is survived by her son, William "Bill" and wife Kathy Hoffman- Hamman of Warsaw, IN, and their children Jay Hamman and Sara Hamman McConnell; her son, David “Dave” Hamman and wife Clarice Myers- Hamman of Mishawaka, IN, and their children Christopher Hamman, Leah Hamman Leslie and Madison Hamman Van Es; her daughter, Karen “KK” Hamman and husband Gary Deardurff of Mishawaka, IN. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis “Rock” Hamman; her parents, and her brother, Edmund A. Wolford III.
Sandra retired from Mishawaka School City after 30 years serving first as a Paraprofessional, and later as a Media Clerk. She was in that capacity at North Side School, Bingham School and in the new Battell School. The best part of managing those libraries was time spent with each and every child once a week telling stories and teaching poetry. Music was a big part of Sandra's life. She played the violin and piano and sang Soprano in many vocal groups. While attending Niles High School she was a member of four vocal groups at the same time. As an adult she sang in church choirs. She was a member of the adult choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Mishawaka for at least twenty years.
Sandra was happiest being a "home body." She took pride in her home and family. Her hobbies were gardening, needlework, especially needle point, and hand crafts. Sandy always had a pet dog to love and care for.
