Jacqueline Adell Elmore (Flint)

Jacqueline Adell (Elmore) Flint

Jacqueline (Jackie) Adele Elmore Flint was born in South Bend, IN on September 12, 1933. She was welcomed into this world by Harold William and Marian Louise Elmore. As the youngest of three children, she always lovingly looked up to her sister, Elaine Sinclair, and brother, Bob Elmore. Jackie had many fond memories of her childhood, and she especially treasured the time spent with family, enjoying summers by the lake.

Throughout her life, family continued to be an important touchstone for Jackie. She deeply loved her three daughters: Jill Smith, Judy Graft, and Janie Knutson. Among her many roles, Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She delighted in spending time with her loved ones and had a penchant for telling stories, playing cards, watching Notre Dame football games, and cooking for and hosting gatherings. Jackie had a creative, fun-loving, and enterprising spirit. She held dear her many years at Studebakers, Ankersons, L.S. Ayres, and Macy's. She always greeted customers with a smile and a genuine desire to help. Given her generous nature, she relished the opportunity to take advantage of sales and employee discounts to buy gifts for family and friends, especially when that meant embarrassing her grandchildren with underwear from her time in the lingerie department.

Jackie was a lifelong pianist who could play by ear. She fostered her musical gifts, sharing them with piano students, friends, and family and was known lovingly by the stage name "Jazzy Jackie." She wrote many songs and holds a copyright for the ballad, "Forever Sweetheart." .

Among her many accomplishments, she considered by far the greatest to be her three daughters: Jill, Judy, and Janie, all of whom she absolutely cherished. Her grandchildren (Courtney, Erin, Alex, Drew, David, and Katie) and great-grandchildren (Olivia, Payton, and James) also brought her immense joy and pride. As a Christian Scientist, Jackie held a close connection to God and found comfort and connection through her consistent practices of prayer and reading scripture. Jackie stated that, "God is Truth, God is Life, and God is All. And with Life as Truth, there is no death." Jackie completed her return to the realm of heavenly love on December 5th, 2023.

At 90 years old, Jackie lived a full and joyous life, always valuing love, laughter, and togetherness. She is survived by her daughter, Judy, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and is now reunited with her parents, siblings, and daughters, Jill and Janie.
