GRANGER – Jean G. Torok, 81, passed away at 6:05 AM Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Hearth at Juday Creek, Granger.

Jean was born on December 5, 1933 in Mishawaka to the late Paul E. and Gertrude H. (Baumgartner) Gooley and has remained a lifelong resident of this area.

On August 20, 1955 in South Bend she was married to the love of her life Elmer L. Torok, who preceded her in death on July 2, 2007. After working in the Notre Dame library before her marriage and raising four children, Jean worked in the Registrar’s Office at IUSB for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. Jean was an ardent lover of music, books and movies and passed this love onto her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always active in St. Anthony’s Parish, she sang in the church choir for over 40 years and was a beautiful soloist for weddings at the church. She also led the children’s chime choirs for several years.

She is survived by daughters, Anne B. (Rick) Morgan of South Bend and Frances M. (Larry) Isgrigg of Fairbanks, AK; sons, Patrick M. (Diane) Torok of Cincinnati, OH and Paul L. Torok of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Jessica, Alexis, Celesta, Gabe, Daniel, Ian and Scott; and six great grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Torok; sister, Dorothy Smith; and brothers, James Gooley and William Gooley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Saint Anthony de Padua Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617, with one hour of visitation prior to services at the church. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617. Palmer Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
