Marlow Wayne Lavengood

Marlow Wayne Lavengood, 92, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Tuesday April 14, 2026 at St. Joseph Health System, Mishawaka.

He was born on May 1, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Loren and Genevieve (Weaver) Lavengood. He graduated from John Adams High School Class of 1951 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957 before being honorably discharged.

On December 16, 1956 he married Esther Pittman, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2013. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Scarlett Lavengood (1978), two brothers, Tom and Jack Lavengood, two brothers-in-law, Gene Payne and Fred Pittman and by two sisters-in-law, Helen Payne and Dorothy Pittman.

Wayne is survived by his children; Jim (Cora) Lavengood of Osceola, IN, Cheryl Lavengood of Mishawaka and Tom (Anicia) Lavengood of Granger, IN, eight grandchildren; Sarah (Daniel) Gryp, Rebecca Lavengood, Joshua (Skyler) Lavengood, Isabel Lavengood, Taylor (Nathan) Martian and Tristyn, Krysta and Jordan Witt, 11 great-grandchildren: Logan, Dylan and Gavin Gryp, Aubrey, Nathan and Hunter Morawski, River Martian, Avianna Burns and Elyana, Finlee and Chloe Lavengood and by a brother, Jim Lavengood of Granger, IN.

Wayne worked as a Senior Marketing Technician Supervisor for Bendix Aerospace Division for 42 years, before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Willow Creek Church, Mishawaka and was an avid golfer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 21, 2026 at the Willow Creek Church, 14010 Jefferson Blvd, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service, burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
