Patricia Ann (Arisman) Foster

Mar 9, 1934 - Aug 25, 2026

Patricia Ann (Arisman) Foster, 92, passed into the arms of Jesus on August 25, 2026.

She was born in Indianapolis to Dr. Ralph and Leona (Parent) Arisman on March 9, 1934. She was a graduate of Adams High School and continued her education at Indiana University where she received her Master's in Special Education. She later completed an Administrator's License.

Pat devotedly was an advocate for children, parents, and teachers in training, from the 1950's to early 2000's. She showed an unrelenting determination to find the best fit for any child to flourish and be successful. This vocation became a lifetime career, bringing her deep joy and satisfaction. She taught at Saint Anthony's School in South Bend and was a kindergarten teacher for District 1 School in Tucson, Arizona until her retirement.

Patricia married Charles Foster on June 12, 1971 in her childhood home on Colfax. Their new life together took them to Tucson, Arizona for the next 32 years. Chuck brought 6 children into the marriage and Patricia brought 2 children, creating a blended family. Pat and Chuck were creating blended family memories, each summer and over many holidays. The new siblings would spend time together swimming, boating, biking, hiking, and exploring Arizona and parts of Northern Indiana. Patricia cherished her entire family. Words that describe her life are: compassionate, devoted, loyal, unwavering love, generous, and an encouraging love that always listened. All of the children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren were always the topic of conversation as she would pray many prayers for them. She was known for her thoughtful little gifts or cards of love and encouragement.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, a member of Old Spanish Trail Lutheran Church (in Tucson), and upon their return to Indiana, became a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Foster, her half sister Betty Brush, her step-son Timothy Foster, and step-grandson Patrick Lerner. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law & sister-in law Bernard (Ruth) Foster and Larry Lewallen.

At Mother's passing, she will not truly be gone for she leaves behind others like herself. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Abel, and her son, James (Audra) Brennan, II and 6 grandchildren - Nick (Sarah) Abel, Liz (Jared) Morse, Kate (Anders) Hamborg, Ingrid Abel (Tom Ryan), Heather Braniff, & Kevin (Tricia) Brennan and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Pamela (Wally) Van Rie, Julie (Randy) Moss, Cathy (Jagadey) Skipper, Sidney Foster, Carolyn Queener, & daughter-in-law Christine Foster, 11 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her extended Richmond, Indiana family, brother-in law and sister-in-laws: Dave (Karen) Foster, and Barb Lewallen.

Mom isn't truly gone, for she leaves a piece of herself with every person she touched - students, friends, neighbors, and especially family.

Memorial Services for Patricia will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Palmer Funeral Homes – Welsheimer North Chapel.
