Garry L. Puckett, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 24, from complications of cancer.

He was a 1956 graduate of the Indiana University School of Music and later earned a master's degree in music from Indiana State University. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he taught music at Woodrow Wilson High School in Terre Haute, Indiana and played French horn for the Indianapolis Symphony. He joined RR Donnelley and Sons in Chicago in 1969 and spent 25 years with the company before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gray Puckett of Chicago; a son, Shelby G. Puckett and daughter in law Chanda Puckett, of Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter, Jackie Puckett Wall of Champaign, Illinois; and a brother, Forrest (Ruth) Puckett of Arlington, Texas, as well as many dear friends.

There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 29 at Bond Chapel on the main quadrangle of The University of Chicago campus, 1050 E. 59th Street. Family and friends will gather before and after the service, 6 to 9 p.m., in the adjoining Swift Common Room. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Garry Puckett to the Indiana University School of Music, 1201 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN 47405.
