SOUTH BEND — Warren H. Burke, 82, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Feb. 11, 1932, in South Bend to Gerald and Gaylen (Smith) Burke.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Robert; and sister Erica (Ricky Burke) Holt.

Warren attended grade school at Nuner Elementary and high school at South Bend Adams where he graduated with the class of 1950.

Warren found employment in a number of different venues. He worked for a short time at Studebaker, an automobile manufacturer in South Bend; as a decorator at Robertsons in its display department in South Bend; as an encyclopedia salesmen in Buffalo, N.Y.; and as a salesman for Skyline recreational vehicle manufacturing in Ocala, Fla. He was the owner of Burke's Bar in Nappanee, and the owner of Chevron RV in Elkhart. He finished his working career in land development in Berrien Springs, Mich.

Warren enjoyed outdoor activities with friends and family, including fishing, small-game hunting, gathering mushrooms and camping. Most of all he enjoyed these activities with his four sons, teaching them about the outdoors and ways to enjoy these outdoor activities.

Surviving Warren are his four sons, Bryan (Tracy) Burke, Shawn Burke, Damon (Jude) Burke and Darin (girlfriend Tracey Clarke) Burke. Extended family includes two grandsons; five granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Warren expressed a sincere appreciation and thanks to his neighbors, Frank and Sue Lamson, who provided him with excellent care and companionship over the past year during his illness.

There will be no visitation or viewing.

Donations may be sent in Warren's name to the Center for Hospice Care.
